Broken Horror Anthology is a collection of horror games developed by SHIKAMI, EpicSUS, Basement Tapes, and Neuron Activation Games. They are independent developers that have centered their collection around a common theme of brokenness. Each title approaches and portrays the theme unique in their worlds, granting players a variety of experiences to anticipate.
Here is what players can expect from this collection, there are a total of four games to explore. Holy Xmas! is a mix of a jolly season with horror elements. Players move around the world as a Christmas elf that completes Santa’s dirty work and inspects toys for defects. However, completing their task becomes complicated when Krampus curses the toys.
Their appearances change, turning them into sinister and dangerous creatures. The official gameplay trailer showcases the workshop as an environment with green wallpapers and boxes filled with toys to inspect. Though some may attack the players like the corrupted teddy bear toy.
The next title in the collection is called Artificial Selection Exam, which is a psychological horror game set in a dystopian world. Players will participate in a deadly examine, utilizing a limited set of cheats to survive and deceive their AI proctor. This environment is shown as a grim classroom setting, where other students are also taking the examine.
The test shown in the trailer also highlights questions that suggest the AI may consider humans as inferior. Players will have a cheat slip hidden under their desk to help them answer some of the questions, but they must be careful enough not to get caught.
Matchlight is another psychological horror game in the collection, but it centers around a single father who is afraid of the dark. He must confront his trauma, travel through the dark without losing his sanity, all in order to save his son. Players will navigate dark passageways using matches, but they must beware of what lurks in the corridors.
The last game in the collection is 99.9 FM. It is an atmospheric first-person horror game where the player is stuck in a loop and must find their way out. Gameplay centers around finding radios scattered around the environment, listening to the signal, and figuring out where to go. They are stuck in an environment where the roads look the same, meaning what they see is not enough to determine a way out.
Players interested in playing any of the titles should wishlist Broken Horror Anthology. The publishers, SHIKAMI, plan on releasing the game on November 12, 2026. Although it will be after the spooky season, it is never to late to have a good scare.
