Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Delayed Until 2018

Fans and backers of the upcoming Castlevania successor, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, were met with disappointing news today.

Koji Igarashi, the creator of the original Castlevania and of this new game, made the announcement during the sixth development update. He started off by saying that development is still progressing on the game, but at the rate it’s going it won’t meet his personal quality standards.

Things have been progressing with development…but between our current production set up and release deadline I’ve realized that the game may not end up meeting my quality standards.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Players take control of Miriam, a girl trying to break a curse placed upon her.

The game was originally set to come out sometime in 2017, however, Igarashi said that his team is now aiming for a release some time in early 2018. The reason for the delay was so he and his team could get the game right the first time and in order to do that, they will need more time.

I have made this decision absolutely guarantee the game is done right the first time.

To help make sure that happens Igarashi said that he would be adding more developers to the team. As of right not, he is in the process of hiring these extra developers and promises to update all backers, and, by extension, everyone else as soon as possible.

Igarashi’s team recently released a demo to all backers, you can read more about it here. Fans of the original Castlevania games will be pleasantly surprised as Bloodstained retains many of the features found in the game as well as the general look and feel.

Whenever the game is released it will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PlayStation Vita.
