Blizzards digital card playing game, Hearthstone, got it’s newest expansion announced, titled Descent of Dragons. However, this wasn’t the biggest news to come out for the franchise. The game is receiving a brand new mode called Battlegrounds, and eight player auto-chess mode, which just begs for absolute chaos.
According to Blizzard, this will be a fresh take on the Hearthstone series. Players will take on the role from one of many heroes and build a board instead of using cards. This is very similar to the recent Dota Auto Chess mod that became very popular in the mobile market. It’s quite a change from the beloved one on one matches that fans are used to, but Blizzard might be onto something here.
Battlegrounds will launch with at least 24 heroes to pick from, and each one with different abilities to utilize in the match. You’ll be able to upgrade your units by sacking three of them together, as well as more bonuses based on similar traits in your army. Battlegrounds will go live on November 5 in Early Access for those pre purchase the Descent of Dragons expansion, as well as BlizzCon 2019 Virtual Ticket holder and attendees. An Open Beta will commence on November 12.
