Blizzard Teases New Overwatch Character Again

Earlier this week, Blizzard teased its newest character in an in-world interview with an 11-year-old girl named Efi Oladele, via a blog post. The newest teaser is an image of a robot stuck in a wall that it presumably had been thrown into at full force.

Something interesting to look at in the image is the shadow in the top right. It looks like a kind of weapon with unidentified things dangling in the air via strings. Images teasers usually have some sort of hidden aspect to the picture that hints what the creature would be, so that looks like it could that hidden aspect, but of course, that has yet to be seen.

Another thing interesting in the image is text. “OR15 defense bots destroyed in major confrontation.” It looks like OR15 is an airport, but who or what has enough power to ransack the entire airport? Hopefully, we will know soon.

So far, the teaser and the blog post line up well. We know that Oladele, who may or may not be a new character, at only 11-years-old received some sort of grant for her inventions and that she was about to go on her first flight. In the interview, she says that she already has a plan for the grant money that she is receiving. What the money is for, is a secret, but her parents were taking her on a trip to celebrate.

Blizzard really loves to put Overwatch fans in suspense. Originally, Terry Crews said that he would love to voice Doomfist, something Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson advocated for, but that appears not to be the case. Game Director Jeff Kaplan said that the new character isn’t the one that we are thinking of. There was even a presentation of a spider-like creature and Kaplan reiterated that neither Doomfist nor that creature is the hero we think it will be.

There is no timetable for when the new character will be revealed, but we do know that there are multiple characters in development.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
