DICE’s 2017 Game of the Year is Overwatch

At the annual DICE Awards held last night in Las Vegas, Blizzard’s Overwatch won the night, taking home the coveted Game of the Year award, as well as winning in three other categories.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End also took home four awards, winning accolades for story and animation as well as Adventure Game of the Year.  Inside came in a close third with three awards, including the coveted “Sprite Award” in recognition of its high accomplishments despite its limited resources and exposure given its “indie” status.  Inside also earned wins in art direction and game direction.

Overall, fifty-six games were nominated this year across twenty-four categories, the full list of which can be found here.  Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End led with ten nominations, Inside close behind with nine.  Other games with multiple noms included Battlefield 1 with eight nominations, The Last Guardian with seven, Firewatch with six, Overwatch with six, and Titanfall 2 with four.
