Diablo II was released 16 years ago – June of 2000, to be exact – and Blizzard is still supporting the action RPG with the release of a new patch – the first since October of 2011.
In forum post, Blizzard explained that 1.14a focuses on “system glitches introduced by modern operating systems.” It also includes a new installer for OSX, which means players can “finally retire those old Mac PowerPCs.” The company has also started working on improving their cheat-detection and hack-prevention capabilities.
There is still a large Diablo II community around the world, and we thank you for continuing to play and slay with us. This journey starts by making Diablo II run on modern platforms, but it does not end there. See you in Sanctuary, adventurers.
The latest entry in the franchise, Diablo III, released in May of 2012, sold nearly 30 million copies on PC and console, compared to its predecessor’s 17 million.
