Blizzard Has “Nothing To Announce” On Recent Diablo 3 Switch Port Speculation

On February 27th, the offical Blizzard Twitter posted a tweet of a gif that sent fans into a craze. After the tweet was sent out, many jumped to the conclusion that the tweet was hinting at Diablo 3 coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, after today, Blizzard has stated that they have “nothing to announce” on the matter.

The tweet in question was of someone turning a Diablo themed nightlight on and off again.

Many thought that because the night light was being “switched” on and then off again that Blizzard might be hinting at a possible Diablo 3 port for the Nintendo Switch. This crazy theory had some ground to it, however, as Diablo 3 was released on consoles before with the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 ports of the game. The theory gained quite a bit of traction, with active Reddit and Resetera threads buzzing with hope, and the original tweet that caused this surge of excitement gained thousands of interacts since it was posted. The sudden craze and hype might be dead now, however, as a spokesperson of Blizzard stepped in to give some clarification on the nature of the tweet.

“We can assure you we’re not that clever,” says the spokesperson. “[It was] meant to be a fun community engagement piece. We have nothing to announce.” This would not be the first time a Blizzard IP did not pan out as fans expected it to. Back in 2016 before the Nintendo Switch’s release, Blizzard teased at the possibility of Hearthstone coming to the unnanounced Switch in the future.

Although nothing has been revealed from that tweet, Blizzard is now well aware of the interest there is for their games to be on the Switch. For now, however, anything relating to Diablo 3, or any Blizzard games, being on the Switch is strictly speculation.
