Blizzard Brings Song and Dance to Gamescom 2017

We put that at the top so you could have the song stuck in your head for the entire article.

Today, Blizzard Entertainment held a reveal event , during which they spoke about upcoming game and media content. The Event was definitely World of Warcraft heavy, highlighting the upcoming “Shadows of Argus” patch. Set to release on August 29th Shadows of Argus will take players to the home planet of the Draenei, currently the seat of power of the Legion!

From context clues and the cinematic shown, we can only guess that the Legion is attempting to resurrect Sargeras, the burning titan, on Argus, and that this will play a key factor in upcoming raids. Blizzard has shown new more powerful demons and a lot of story coming with this patch, so players need to make sure they are prepared.

Next we watched the delightful new animation for Hearthstone, featuring “Ava”. The song is still stuck in your head isn’t it? Go ahead and re-watch it, we’ll be right here. The video’s fun song, and characters are meant to not only show the tavern in which the game of Hearthstone takes place, but remind you of players you may have played with.

Lydia Bottegoni, senior vice president of Story & Franchise Developement at Blizzard Entertainment, had this to say:

With Hearth and Home, our new animated short, we aimed to capture the wonder and magic of Hearthstone—in the Tavern’s welcoming interior, in its colorful patrons, and of course in their catchy song… We’re looking forward to sharing more tales from the Hearthstone Tavern featuring Ava and her friends in the months ahead.

We’re definitely excited to see how Ava’s journey continues, and to see what, if any influence these shorts have on the actual game-play. Oh, and in case you were curious, the orc’s name is Urk.

Blizzard kept the Warcraft train rolling with a Hero Spotlight for Heroes of the Storm. Heroes of the Storm brings together characters from all over Blizzards IP’s, and today they revealed that the Arch-Lich who is responsible for the Lich King and the Scourge as a whole would be making an entrance into the game. Kel’Thuzad will be a burst dps ranged damager with a focus on chaining skills and technical play. He’ll also be bringing a few new undead skins for other heroes with him, along with a special event during which players will be able to unlock new Scourge portraits, sprays and banners.

Finally, for Overwatch, a new animated short featuring Mei called “Rise and Shine”
