Blizzard Bans Trading (Again) in Diablo IV

Diablo IV has made its way back into the news by banning trading till further notice after a duplication exploit was discovered.

This ban is another link in the chain of unfortunate events within Diablo IV recently. Last week, the game launched on Steam to mixed reviews with 45% of them being negative. The Steam release coincided with the second season’s debut titled “Season of Blood,”which had to be delayed  by a few hours due to “technical issues.” While players were relieved at the quality-of-life changes within the update, another issue has once again arisen for Diablo IV.

Community manager Rich Bantegui, known online as “filthierich,” wrote on the Blizzard forum regarding the trading ban, stating that the developers are working on fixing  the exploit.

“We’ve suspended player trading in Diablo 4 until further notice due to a duplication exploit,” Bantegui said. “We are working on a fix to amend this issue and will update you once we’ve reinstated the ability to trade. We will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all.”

Bantegui was also firm about repercussions for players engaging in the exploit, ending the post with the statement: “Any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement. We thank you for reporting this exploit to us and your patience.”

This isn’t the first time a trade ban has popped up in Diablo IV. In August, Blizzard suspended player trading after a gold and item duplication exploit was found. Just as they do now, Blizzard threatened to ban players found using the nefarious glitch as it violates the game’s Terms of Service.

As of now, player trading is still unavailable. The first time a similar incident happened, the team rolled out a fix within a few days, so hopefully the wait will soon be over.

Diablo IV is available for purchase on PC, Xbox X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5.
