Blizzard has announced that the first patch for the upcoming expansion, Legion, will feature the highly anticipated Return to Karazhan in Patch 7.1. It is intended to launch shortly after Legion releases. Here is the official trailer, featuring the voice work of iconic undead butler, Moroes.
Return to Karazhan will be released as a level 110 five man dungeon. It will feature nine bosses, which means it will be fairly lengthy, as most other dungeons only host three or four. Also with the release, Blizzard intends to introduce another small raid to compliment the larger Emerald Nightmare and Nighthold. There are also plans for more outdoor content associated with Suramar , that extrapolates upon the Nightfallen story arc.
For those worrying that the original level 70 Karazhan raid will be replaced, Blizzard has commented that it will still be open for those wishing to collect heirloom gear and instance resources.
Blizzard has commented that it wishes to right the wrong of previous expansion’s long content droughts with new content such as Karazhan. Their number one priority has been to ensure that players never run out of things to do. They have claimed that they are slowing down the release of future expansions to ensure that each expansion is allowed sufficient time to settle in. Raid tiers will last for roughly four to five months before the next is released.
