Beta Testing Begins for PC Version of Halo 3: ODST

Over 10 years since its original release on Xbox 360 consoles in 2009, Halo 3: ODST will be arriving on PCs soon as a part of the remastered Master Chief Collection’s official PC launch. Despite its arrival to the Xbox One in 2015, Halo 3: ODST was still missing its original “Firefight” horde-survival mode that was included in the game’s original release. According to official listings for the game, the PC version of ODST will include the full campaign and Firefight game modes (that are currently being tested and played during the beta). Along with updated 4k UHD graphics and 60+ FPS performance capabilities, ODST for the PC will also include controller customization options for keyboards, ultrawide support, and FOV settings options.

In order to play Halo 3: ODST players will need to purchase the  Master Chief Collection on Steam, which includes Halo: 1&2 Anniversary, 3, Reach and the future release of Halo 4 (free for MCC owners). The previous Halo titles all include DLC, full campaigns, and multiplayer for Halo 3 and Reach.

While the beta has officially started, those interested can still signup to be a Halo Insider and gain beta access via the Halo Insider Program’s website. Players who are eligible will receive an email invitation for the ODST beta, and can also signup for future beta tests for the remaining Halo titles in the collection. Those invited to the beta will be able to test out 6 different missions from the original campaign and seven different Firefight maps to choose from for the horde mode.

The release also includes new weaponry and gun skins that have been added to Halo 3‘s multiplayer as a part of the game’s Season 3 content release. Halo 3: ODST will be officially releasing later this year for PCs via Steam and the Microsoft Store, more information can be found on the official Halo Waypoint website.
