EA has announced a Battlefield 1 open beta that will go live August 31st. The beta will be open to anyone who signs up and pick their platform before August 21st. The open beta sign-up can be found here. Also using the now commonplace practice of allowing early access for preorders, players who preorder the deluxe edition of Battlefield 1 can play as early as October 18th.
Battlefield 1’s open beta features have also been detailed. Players in the beta will be to experience the Sinai Desert map, a map which is visible in the newly released Gamescom 2016 gameplay trailer, which can be viewed below. The map looks incredibly detailed and cinematic to a degree, even though the trailer claims that all the footage shown is in game. The armored train will also be in the beta, a vehicle that will require team work to both operate or to destroy. Horses will also be available in the beta. Players can slash with their sabers or shoot from a far with their rifles via horseback. The horses are also said to be effective in anti-vehicle attacks, allowing the player to attack slower vehicles and consistently be on the move while doing so.
The open beta for Battlefield 1 will also feature two game modes. The first is Conquest Mode. The Battlefield classic game mode makes a return in the World War I flavored iteration of the Battlefield franchise. For those who are not already familiar with this game mode, it is essentially a large scale game mode where up to 64 players at a time participate in trying to capture and control objectives with a variety of weapons and vehicles at their disposal. The other mode in the open beta for Battlefield 1 is going to be Rush Mode. This is a 24 player game mode where the aggressors must attempt to destroy enemy telegraph posts that can be used to call in artillery attacks. The defending forces can disarm the bombs placed on their telegraph post, but if their telegraph post ends up destroyed they must fall back to the closest available telegraph post and begin defending there.
Battlefield 1 is set to be released October 21st on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Origin.
