Battleborn Servers Shutting Down In 2021

Fans of Battlborn may be sad to hear that they will no longer be able to play the first-person multiplayer and single-player shooter after 2021. According to a blog post by 2k, the game has been removed from digital storefronts and the company is getting ready to shut down the servers in order to focus on other projects. The blog post also addresses several additional concerns that may come up including if players can continue to purchase or spend the in-game virtual currency “Platinum”. The blog post also addresses whether players will be able to continue playing the game in single-player mode.

The blog post states that “After February 24, 2020, you will no longer be able to purchase premium virtual currency (“Platinum”) for use in the game.” Meaning that players have until that date to purchase any Platinum that they want in order to purchase certain items. However, even after that date, players will still be able to use their Platinum to purchase any goods that they want up until the shutdown date. Players can also still grind for Platinum up until the shutdown date. No other features will be removed from the game so players can still enjoy the game up until 2021, after which the servers will be deactivated and even the single-player campaign will become unplayable.

According to IGN, Battleborn writer Aaron Linde stated, “I know it’s no small feat to patch the game to be playable offline, but the idea that the game will just evaporate is something I’ve been dreading for years, and now has a hard date. That’s three years of my life. Not just that, Battleborn is probably the most personal game I’ll ever make. I poured everything I had into those characters.” The servers will be deactivated on January 2021 so players have until then to enjoy Battleborn.
