Battleborn Muliplayer is Now Free to Play

Battleborn, the class-based first-person shooter with MOBA and RPG elements from Gearbox and 2K Games, is going partially free-to-play today with the Battleborn Free Trial.  The Free Trial will give anyone interested unlimited access to the game’s competitive multiplayer, with no foreseeable end date in sight.

The Battleborn Free Trial comes as a free downloadable content package, available now globally on PC, Xbox One, and on PS4 in the Americas, and is coming to PS4 for Europe and Japan in a week on June 13.  The Free Trial will let players play any of the Battleborn competitive multiplayer modes, picking from a weekly-rotating selection of 6 heroes from the full game’s roster of 30.

Players who pick up the game brand new in the Battleborn Free Trial will be placed in the all-new Novice Queue, where they’ll be matched against other new players for all their matches until they level up enough to indicate they’ve mastered the game’s basics.  New players can also hone their skills in the new Battleborn training modes, such as the Incursion Tutorial, for mastering competitive skills, and the Dojo, where they can test any of the 30 heroes (unlocked or not) against never-ending waves of enemy monsters.

Players who had previously purchased a retail copy of Battleborn before the Free Trial will now gain “Founder’s Status”, which will gift them tons of in-game bonuses and collectibles including a new Founder title, Legendary Gear, 1,000 Platinum, 50,000 Credits, Loot Packs and more, plus an exclusive “Founder’s Crown” Flair item.

If you’re thinking of picking up the Battleborn Free Trial and haven’t played the game before, we highly recommend you check out this new developer overview video with Battleborn creative director Randy Varnell.  It’s a quick summary of the game that is helpful to get new players acquainted with the unique mechanics and features of Battleborn, such as the game’s diverse characters and “Helix” character level-up system.
