This past June it was revealed that the three Batman Arkham titles would be finally making their way to the Nintendo Switch, marking the first time that they would be available on the company’s flagship home console. At the time, no release date was given, but Rocksteady has put an end to that wait. The studio has announced that the Batman: Arkham Trilogy will be released for the Switch later this year on October 13, 2023, and will be bundled with all of the DLC for each title respectively.
All three titles in the trilogy are being ported to the Switch by Turn Me Up Games, who also developed the Nintendo Switch versions of other major heavy hitters. This includes It Takes Two, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and Borderlands Legendary Collection. This should go without saying but the trilogy does not include the prequel entry, Batman: Arkham Origins, which was developed by WB Games Montreal and released in 2013.
As for the three titles that are included in the package, the first entry, Batman: Arkham Asylum, is considered to be the first truly excellent Batman title of the modern console era. It introduced the open word aspect, along with making the player actually feel like they’re playing as the dark knight. This was heavily emphasized with the follow-up, Batman: Arkham City, and is often cited as one of the best superhero titles of all time. It took the sandbox feature and dialed it up to eleven, including more gadgets for the player to use and a plethora of side quests.
The third part of the trilogy, Batman: Arkham Knight, was also well received, and improves the visuals significantly along with the Batmobile features being a prominent part of the title. All of these features were excellent to see, as long as you weren’t playing on PC. The Batman: Arkham Trilogy will be released on the Nintendo Switch later this year on October 13, 2023.
