Just yesterday, the developer of Batman Arkham Origins WB Games Montreal posted a rather interesting short video to Twitter. The post was made to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first Batman Comic. The short video features the Bat Signal posted onto a building with brief flashes of strange symbols. The post’s significance is unknown but it could possibly be hinting at a new project. WB Games Montreal also tweeted another short clip today showing off the same symbols much clearer with the statement Capture the Knight, implying the Dark Knight. This does seem to imply that something is coming for the Caped Crusader.
According to Gamespot, many people have been theorizing that one of the symbols references the nefarious secret society of Gotham, the Court of Owls. This can be supported by a tweet back in November 2018 by WB Games Montreal showing a picture of a developer showing off a t-shirt with the Court of Owls Logo on the back. This can be further supported by a tweet that was deleted by Scott Snyder stating, “Wait for it… #bewarethecourtofowls”.
The Court of Owls is essentially the Illuminati of Gotham City. They are an incredibly violent organization run by many of the rich and powerful in Gotham. They have a troupe of highly trained assassins known as Talons to execute their will, each one usually enhanced with an immortality granting treatment of a metal known as Electrum. The Court of Owls was also recently featured in the Dark Knights: Metal series and served as the catalyst for the events of the series.
Another piece of supporting evidence for this comes from Kotaku. Back in 2016, it was confirmed that WB Montreal Games was cancelling a Suicide Squad game in order to focus on a project starring the Batman’s son, Damian Wayne. Damian has had numerous clashes with the Court of Owls in the past with an animated film even placing him at the center of a conflict between the Court of Owls and the Batman. This is all currently speculation and nothing is as of yet confirmed.
