Bandai Namco and Swedish game developer Tarsier Studios have announced their work on a new game called Little Nightmares. Essentially Little Nightmares is a renamed version of a game that has been teased since 2015, Hunger. Hunger was originally funded by Nordic Game and the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and were awarded about 200,000 Euro to help with development of the game. The development started in 2014 and now Bandai Namco has signed on as the distributor for the game. It is interesting to note that the teaser trailer for Hunger offers a much more in depth look at the game and its gameplay when compared to this new teaser for the game under its new title. The new teaser trailer for Little Nightmares can be viewed below as well as the original Hunger teaser trailer.
Little Nightmares, based on current information, is an atmospheric adventure and suspense game revolving around the theme of childhood fears. The player controls a girl in a yellow rain coat named Six and they must help her escape evil forces and creatures that inhabit a mysterious vessel known as “The Maw.” While under the working title of Hunger, the game was aiming for a release on the PlayStation 4 but consoles have not been announced for this re-titled version of the game. As of now, Little Nightmares does not have an official release date either.
A teaser website for Little Nightmares has launched, the website contains a puzzle comprised of different moveable blocks. Another website, the official website, has also gone live as well and can be seen here. Even though there is not much currently to be seen on either of these new websites. Now that Tarsier has partnered with Bandai Namco on this, new details for the game are set to be released at Gamescom 2016, which will take place from August 18th to August 21st. Gamescom will be the stage for the official full debut for the newly titled Little Nightmares.
