Larian Studios has announced that the Early Access for Baldur’s Gate III has been delayed. The title was originally supposed to be initially available in early August. Now that we’re actually in August, it seems that the studio no longer sees that as a possibility. For those worried that this means some sort of infinite delay, fret not. Larian also confirmed that they will announce the new release date on August 18, as well as other information with a special presentation, dubbed the Panel From Hell.
Good news and bad news. BG3 won’t hit August, but it’s just around the corner. We’ll be announcing the release date, as well as big news on the Panel From Hell alongside @geoffkeighley, @LarAtLarian and the Larian crew. Tune in Aug 18th. https://t.co/S1RlVpJ8yw pic.twitter.com/NCkrnHHpH0

In addition, this panel will also feature Summer Games Fest host and creator Geoff Keighly, as well as Larian’s founder Swen Vincke, and others from the development team. The website also has a countdown timer set to the aforementioned date at 10:00 am PST, just in case anyone doesn’t want to miss it. There’s still a couple of weeks between now and then, so don’t feel like you need to stare at the screen for that long.
Larian has been hard at work since making a huge splash in the video gaming community at E3 2019 when the game was announced. The franchise has spawned numerous spinoffs since the last mainline entry in 2004, but fans have been clamoring for a proper sequel since BioWare and Black Isle Studio’s left the development to others. Larian has an excellent track record with the Dungeons and Dragons series, such as Divinity: Original Sin, and hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to see the fruits of their labor.
The Panel From Hell is scheduled to go live on August 18 at 10:00 am PST / 1:00 pm EST. You can watch it on Larian’s Twitch channel, or the Summer Games Fest YouTube channel. Baldur’s Gate III will officially launch on PC through Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia.
