It’s been just one week since Atlus shadow dropped Persona 4 Golden for PC through Steam during the PC Gaming Show, it’s safe to say that those in the PC gaming community were more than ready for it. The thunder may have been stolen bit by the leaks earlier in the week, but that didn’t stop the game from completely steamrolling the Steam Charts when it came out. The charts showed that 29,984 people played the game within the first 24 hours, making it the new record holder for a JRPG with the total highest player count at one point on the platform.
The previous record-holder was Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition, which was just a hair underneath Persona 4 Golden’s with 29,279. Due to this new surge in popularity for Persona 4 Golden, and since the game originally launched in 2008 for the PlayStation 2 and in 2012 for the PS Vita, developer Atlus has requested that those who know how the game ends to please refrain from spoiling it for those who are playing it for the first time.
It’s an interesting, and yet very sincere request from the developer, especially considering the endless amount of playthroughs that are already on YouTube from the previous entries. Thankfully, all they’re asking for is to have a spoiler warning tag on either a video or a livestream as opposed to completely restricting them like they did with Persona 5. Either way, Atlus has yet another massive hit on their hands, and it comes in the form of one of the greatest JRPG’s from one of the most memorable JRPG series in history.
Persona 4 Golden is available on PC through Steam. It’s also available for the PS Vita, while the original Persona 4 is available for the PlayStation 2.
