ASTRA Reveals MoonHack for 2027 Steam Release

ASTRA has announced MoonHack, cyber-noir adventure game planned for PC via Steam in 2027. The game is being developed and published by ASTRA, the independent game label under Astro Production. A specific release date has not been announced.

The first promotional video features “DANCE ALL NIGHT.” The song’s lyrics, composition, and arrangement were handled by KOICHI of Ukiyone. The song is performed by Kanon Arise, who voices Tsukuyomi Kaguya, and Iroha Tounogi, who voices Kuon’in Yoruka. Music for the game is being handled by Ukiyone, while character design is being handled by illustrator Noyu.

MoonHack is set in the year 2125, in a society where AI systems control daily life through optimization. Work, taxes, emotions, romance, creative activity, and future decisions are all handled through systems that revolve around stability and efficiency. In that world, personal freedom has been reduced, and the act of loving something outside the system can be treated as a crime. The story follows Tsukuyomi Kaguya, an outdated illegal AI, as she joins girls whose humanity has been recorded as criminal. Together, they work against the AI-controlled society through songs, using music as part of the game’s hacking theme.

The game combines story scenes with 3D rhythm-action gameplay. During these rhythm sections, vocal songs are connected to the act of interfering with the systems that control society. ASTRA is framing the project around dark science fiction, the legend of Princess Kaguya, and rhythm-action elements. The official MoonHack site currently lists 13 characters. The site also presents the cast through the crimes or classifications assigned to them within the game’s AI-managed society.

Alongside the announcement, ASTRA said the in-universe “Human Optimization Project” official X account has been taken over and changed into the official MoonHack account. The account is now being used for updates on the game.

MoonHack is planned for PC via Steam in 2027.

Runa Nguyen: As a child, I translated strategy guides from English into Vietnamese for my dad so he could play through the Final Fantasy games, and in the process, the franchise became one of my own most beloved. From there, my life was filled with MMORPGs like Ragnarok Online, which I still look back on with fondness. I’m a fiction writer with a background in Creative Writing who primarily writes dark romance, but video games will always remain a big part of my life.
