Assassin’s Creed Rogue Gets 4K Remaster For PS4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin’s Creed Rogue has been remastered in 4K for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Gamers less familiar with the franchise may be scratching their head attempting to remember where this title belongs in the series. Originally released in November of 2014, Assassin’s Creed Rogue takes place in the mid-1700s in America. Shay Patrick Cormac is a brazen new recruit of the Brotherhood. With his ship, The Morrigan, he is tasked to investigate the location of a Piece of Eden and beat the Templars to it.

Rogue was the last Assassin’s Creed title to be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3. What might have been a fond farewell to one generation, however, was quickly overshadowed by the next. Excitement for Assassin’s Creed Unity had peaked, and Ubisoft was pushing most of their advertising in that direction. Unity came out that same month—and would go on to have plenty of its own issues—but it continued to capture the attention of fans and the press alike.

Despite little press from Ubisoft and some mixed reviews, Rogue was generally well-received, particularly after the PC release in March of 2015. It has a small circle of fans that will hopefully expand with the release of this remaster.

The new release will contain all DLC from the original game, which includes 2 additional missions, as well as a legacy outfit for Bayek, the protagonist of last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins. Ubisoft has also announced that the remaster will run in 4K on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 20. You can watch the teaser trailer below.
