Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Confirmed By Ubisoft As The Next Entry In The Franchise

We are now in the month of June, and that means E3 is only a matter of days away. With the convention on the horizon, it seems that titles and big announcements get harder to keep under wraps. There have already been a couple of leaks for big titles this year, and it seems like we have just gotten one more leak to be plausible. The next entry for Ubisoft’s Assassins’s Creed series has now been confirmed.

The sequel was officially announced on Twitter by the official account for the series after some interesting leaks surfaced on the web that not only pointed to the game’s existence but also gave some insight on what setting that the title will take place within. The leak comes from a French based video game site, JeuxVideo-Live, where there was a posting of a keychain that showed off the game’s name; Assassins’s Creed: Odyssey, along with a helmet attachment that resembled that of Greek armor. The site also reported that this game will be a follow up to last year’s AC title, Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

The image spread like wildfire, and just after a few hours, Ubisoft went ahead and confirmed the title with a short teaser trailer.

The trailer shows a short clip of a character kicking another off a cliff side. The scene itself looks strikingly similar to the iconic scene in Zack Snyder’s film adaptation of Frank Miller’s novel, 300, where the Spartan king kicked the Persian messenger down the well. The clip ends with the title of the game along with the caption “See you at E3.” Ubisoft’s E3 2018 press conference is set to kick off on Monday June 11 at 1 PM PT.
