Armature Studio, the developers behind popular games Fortnite, Recore, and Deadstar have revealed a teaser trailer for their next soon to be released title, Fail Factory!. Featuring upbeat music by Winifred Phillips and VR mechanics in a collaboration with Oculus, Armature Studio will release the whimsical title Fail Factory! exclusively for Samsung Gear VR in December.
Fail Factory! is a cute, colorful and humorous game where players become an employee in a large robot factory. Unfortunately, factory workers don’t always seem to know how to do their job which results in broken parts, dysfunctional robots, and machinery that malfunctions because of improper use. The factory is a mess but work must be done, even if the other employees don’t seem too concerned about the mishaps; they choose to laugh at the growing amount of failures instead of choosing to fix them, as seen in the teaser trailer.
Players who successfully work the assembly lines, use the heavy-duty factory equipment and control functional robots earn points towards moving up the company ladder. There are “nearly 40 varied immersive and physics-based mini-games to conquer and earn points,” giving players a number of opportunities to prove themselves as a great factory employee. Executive Producer Gregory John says his favorite mini games are the “QAP (Quality Assurance Protocol) where the player controls the massive robot.” You have to “move the arms, legs, and torso to navigate the 3D space and execute specific actions to fulfill the goals of those mini-games.” The virtual reality format of the game makes the experience that much more challenging, fun, and unique when trying to solve a variety of puzzles. Players with a more competitive side also have the option to “compete for the highest score in the Online Leaderboards,” adding one more element to conquer in this wacky game.
Fail Factory! will be available for Samsung Gear VR on December 7.
