Ark: Survival Evolved Has Officially Launched

Studio Wildcard’s action-adventure survival game Ark: Survival Evolved has been officially released, following an initial launch on Early Access platforms about two years previously. Alongside the full launch, the game is getting a content update and a season pass.

In June of 2015, Ark: Survival Evolved was released in Steam Early Access for Windows PC, and in following months for Xbox and PlayStation. The open-world game allows players to establish bases and navigate its world, the Ark, with the aid of prehistoric beasts. The full game was originally slated for launch in the summer of 2016, then pushed back twice, and finally set to release at the end of August 2017, due to the length of its certification process.

With the large new update to the game, Studio Wildcard also gave an announcement stating, “Ark will continue to grow with new content at launch and beyond as we continue to have a behemoth amount of additional gameplay, creatures, and story elements in the works.” Ark: Survival Evolved‘s update comes with a new in-game storyline, a full soundtrack, and the free Ragnarok expansion pack. The Ragnarok mod was built by Ark‘s community modders and adds an entirely new island with additional creatures to the game. As indicated by the Studio Wildcard team, further updates to Ark will be forthcoming in the future.

Ark: Survival Evolved is now available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
