Arca’s Path Provides An Escape From Reality

VR games provide a different more immersive experience for players. These games can give a whole new dimension to puzzle, survival, combat, as well as sports games. VR titles can seem more in tune with the player and usually add a layer of intensity to them, Since it’s arrival into the gaming industry, VR has always been a big part of E3. Many new titles and games with VR capabilities are introduced during the convention and this year is no different.

We got to try a demo of a new VR title that uses it’s immersion to make the game and player more relax and to overall use it’s aesthetic qualities to escape the restrictions of reality for a moment. The game began with a short cutscene of a destroyed civilization. Within it a young girl finds a mask, and when she places it on her face she is transported to an other worldy dimension.

Within this dimension the young girl then turns into a marble which can then be controlled down geometrical pathways by the player. The game sports interesting yet simple controls that required no physical controllers. All that is needed to move around in the game is the player’s head and eyes. players set their sights on which direction they want to go and then they move their heads to actually move the ball along bridges, ramps, and moving platforms being very careful not to fall off any edges.

Arca’s music and art style are suited to give players a relaxing gameplay experience instead of using VR’s immersive capabilities to create a more intense experience. Rebellion still is developing the game and doesn’t quite know how many levels will be in the game when it’s complete but it is said that the title will be arriving soon to all headsets.
