Following its victory over many popular games this year by winning the Best Multiplayer Award at The Game Awards, ARC Raiders is keeping the momentum of the game strong through the introduction of new events and map conditions. Today, the team announced that new additions will be made to both with the Cold Snap map condition and Flickering Flames event running from December 16th to January 13th.

The Cold Snap condition takes full advantage of the winter theme. As explained by the official ARC Raiders website, the cold is deadly in the Rust Belt. Among map considerations such as frozen water or blinding flurries, the Cold Snap condition will deplete player health. This will add a new consideration during gameplay as players will have to consider when they can make it inside. The post also hints at using the condition offensively by forcing enemies into open areas where they will be doomed to succumb to the cold.

To coincide with the new emphasis on the cold winter months, ARC Raiders will also be including a new event based on the festival of Flickering Flames. During the event, players will be encouraged to collect Candleberries from bushes of the same name in order to create light and heat sources for the Speranzans. Completing those objectives will grant players access to rewards such as Raider Tokens, new items, and cosmetics. The new Goalie Raider Deck will also come with the event, granting the chance to use hockey sticks.

For many multiplayer games, the amount of content and variety that comes to the gameplay after release is what determines its long-term success. The new updates and events coming to ARC Raiders indicate that the game won’t lose momentum any time soon, with many fans expressing excitement to play with the new mechanics and look at the maps with the new Cold Snap condition. The Flickering Flames event begins tomorrow.
