Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star Gets New Screenshots, Trailer

JRPG fans can take a gander at a smattering of new materials for KOEI Tecmo’s new title Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star.

For those not familiar with the title, Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star is a JRPG with a lot going for it, not the least of which is the stunning visuals on display in the game’s newest screenshots and trailer.

Publisher KOEI Tecmo has a good pedigree in the games industry. With titles like the Dynasty Warriors series and Dead or Alive to its name (or, for those of the NES generation, Tecmo Bowl) the company has a history of great quality games. A lot of that same attention to detail is present in the visual presentation of Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star, at least from what we can see in the latest screenshots for the Japanese version of the game.

As is to be expected from the company that produced the Dead or Alive series, Ar Nosurge’s new trailer and screenshots make it clear the game is not afraid to embrace fanservice.

The trailer looks decent as well, showcasing not only the game’s visuals in action, but a dose of the game’s soundtrack as well.

Ar Nosruge follows the story of two pairs of individuals from a dying culture. Trapped on the edges of space, both teams seek to save their culture, working toward a mutual goal while having no contact with one another. KOEI Tecmo explain it well:

Ar nosurge is a Fantasy, Sci-fi, ‘7 Dimension’ RPG, that takes place in a world where music and song can create magic. It tells the compelling story of a civilisation that lost their planet and has been roaming the edge of space for 2000 years in search of a new home. The player follows two sets of characters: Delta and Casty, whose goal is to protect humanity and save the world, and Ion & Earthes. The player can interchange between both pairs and soon discover a way to combine their storylines and strengths to eventually solve the mystery that shrouds their ongoing struggle.

The game’s world has an interesting blend of magic and technology, with one of the playable characters using song to cast spells, while another one is a giant robot. Between that and a deep, complicated plot and world, the game is set to offer JRPG fans a lot to chew on once it hits store shelves.

Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star will be making its way to North America on September 23, with a subsequent European release on September 26th, 2014.
