As initially seen and pointed out by a Resetera user, two domains were recently registered this month (June 16th and 19th) by MarkMonitor Inc. (the domain broker for WB Interactive websites). With the fact that Warner Bros will also be showing off new games at the DC Fandome digital event on August 22nd, it’s possible that the newly discovered Gotham Knights (which was recently renewed after being first registered in 1998) and Suicide Squad game could be the ones that are being revealed soon.
The registration information for these newly owned domains do not specifically say Warner Bros, but as Kotaku reported in March, Warner Bros has been planning to announce a handful of DC related games. The same studio that created Arkham Origins (Warner Bros Montreal) has also been teasing a return to the beloved Batman games as time went on as well, so it’s safe to assume that the possible Gotham Knights game might be in their hands, while the possible (now confirmed) Suicide Squad game is handled by Rocksteady, which is already getting fans excited with high expectations.
According to the DC wiki, the Gotham Knights title could suggest that the game will be centered around a group of young vigilantes that protect Gotham City after being founded by Batman and Batwoman. With the arsenal of DC and Gotham centered games already existing (Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Origins), it could be speculated that there is a “DC Game Universe” in the works.
At the time of this article being posted, Rocksteady has already confirmed that they will be the studio handling a Suicide Squad themed game. Currently, the London based studio has been working on this entry for years and the domain title “Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League” could possibly be the new title for the game. With this confirmation, the company also hints at the fact that there might be some kind of reveal for this game coming at the DC Fandome event.
