Apex Legends Trailer Shows Off New Map and Plenty of Character Personalty

Earlier today, Apex Legends shared a trailer via Twitter for a new map, called World’s Edge, coming in Season 3. The new season will bring new weapons, new character in Crypto, and even a brand new planet to explore. The Apex cast will leave the familiar comforts of Planet Solace and travel to Planet Talos, made of both lava and ice. The new trailer, which you can check out below, not only gives players a glimpse of the new map but some of the hilarity of the plane ride over.

The trailer did an excellent job of showing off the character’s personalities and how they interact with one another outside the arena. As expected, the carefree attitude of Mirage seriously clashed with the more brooding nature of newcomer Crypto, leading to a somewhat intense, yet playful, competition between the two of them. Mirage takes offense to his new “Old Man” nickname from Crypto, while Lifeline and Gibraltar seem more impressed than alienated by the new guy. While Crypto may be the hot topic of conversation with the gang, some are more interested than others. Octane seems more interested in playing three video games at once, and all Pathfinder wants is a high five (poor guy).

The new map, World’s Edge, seems more inhospitable than King’s Canyon right off the bat. Hosting polar opposite biomes with areas of molten lava and brimstone as well as arctic tundra, players will need to keep their wits about them to survive in the new arena. There also appears to be a high-speed train loaded with loot running through portions of the map, which will hopefully result in a new and exciting way to both get around and rack up some kills. We also get a quick look at the upcoming Charge Rifle weapon as Crypto uses it to save Mirage from the flanking Caustic; maybe there’s hope for a friendship between those two after all.

Apex Legends Season 3, Meltdown, launches on October 1.
