The scariest season of them all is upon us, and that means loads of Halloween events in all our favorite games. Apex Legends recently announced their take on the spooky holiday called the Fight or Fright Collection Event. The event, which will take place starting October 15 and run until November 5, will bring a ton of limited Halloween collectibles and even a new game mode called Shadowfall.
According to the event announcement page on the Apex website, the event will reward players with limited time loot, including two Legendary weapon skins, Nocturnal Elegance for the Devotion and the Haymaker for the Alternator. The event will also feature “another set of 24 themed, limited-time cosmetics to Apex,” which players can obtain via Apex Packs, crafting, and direct purchase using Apex Coins. Each opened Apex Pack will contain no event currency, which has instead been replaced by more loot. According to the event page, there will be no duplicates in the packs either, so the odds of collecting everything have never been better.
The special event game mode, Shadowfall, will take place on a very scary night-version of King’s Canyon. Shadowfall is a 35-player free-for-all where death isn’t the end of the match. “Once you die you will respawn as an undead version of your Legend and join the powerful ‘Shadow Squad’.” Members of the Shadow Squad will not be able to use weapons or legend abilities but will be granted “increased movement and jump speed, along with a brutal melee attack.” The Shadow Squad will also be able to skydive respawn as many times as they’d like for ultimate chaos. Once there are only 10 living players remaining, they join forces to make it back to the evac ship while the Shadow Squad tries to stop them.
Fight or Fright will be one of three event types added to Apex Legends. This event is called a Collection Event, which will “deliver a limited-time mode, event challenges where players earn cosmetics, and a set of event limited cosmetics available via Event-specific Apex Packs or direct purchase,” according to the description page. The other two event types include Season Launches, where new Legends like Crypto are introduced, and Themed Events, which is perfectly exemplified by the Voidwalker Wraith Event from last month. The Fight or Fright Event runs from October 15 through November 5, so be sure to stuff your candy bucket with as many goodies as it can hold.
