Anti-Gravity Racing Makes a Comeback with Pacer Game Releasing in September

Announced last year originally titled as Formula Fusion, Pacer is the latest anti-gravity racing game designed by R8 Games coming to modern consoles and PC. Reminiscent of the classic F-Zero style of racing, Pacer will put players in multiple races across the galaxy, and allow them to compete in single-player or online modes. According to the official press release, “PACER is an explosive anti-gravity combat racing game where players can race in a variety of single-player modes or with up to 10 players via online multiplayer.” Along with classic racing modes, Pacer will include a variety of new modes, customizations, and extra content for players to interact with during their time with the game.

Starting with a choice from five different body types, players will be able to use the garage to fully customize their vehicle’s look, performance, and weaponry. Launching with 14 unique maps, Pacer will allow for players to use different map variants including day/night modes, mirrored racing, and up to 8 other variations to create new racing experiences. The official campaign will also put players through their own racing careers, as they start as trainees and compete through 10 different racing teams to become the Pacer World Champion.

A variety of game modes will also be releasing with the game, including new modes not previously seen in the anti-grav racing genre. Along with classic modes like elimination or endurance, Pacer will feature two new unique modes titled “Flowmentum” and a battle royale-inspired “Storm” mode. Not much information has been revealed about the special modes, but they will be available with the game’s official release in September. The official Pacer Discord is also now available to join for those interested in the game or for those seeking more information. Pacer will be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via STEAM on September 17, 2020.
