China continues to make inroads in the worldwide video game market and it had an absolutely massive presence at this year’s Gamescom. Deviating from the dark action packed myth retellings people may be used to, Ananta is a more animated open world RPG from Chinese studio Naked Rain, and we were treated to a new trailer for it at Gamescom 2026.
With a tongue-in-cheek tone to the script and a very diverse roster of gameplay mechanics shown, Ananta looks to be a great exploration of how China will approach a more casual, carefree atmosphere in their games.
Ananta looks like a fun romp across a Chinese city, with a very colorful cast of characters and you can tell that there’s a slightly more serious edge to the story, as well as a big variety of sights and activities you can do in the city including driving, sightseeing, rollercoasters, a mini airplane minigame, as well as plenty of combat.
Ananta is going to release globally January 15th, 2027 for Playstation 5 and PC, and it’ll be free to play!
