Among The PlayStation 5 Pro Improvements, Some Experience Downgrades

The PlayStation 5 Pro launched on Nov 7 2024 worldwide. Early reports have indicated that the PlayStation 5 Pro has sold near the same amount of units as the PlayStation 4 Pro and over 13,000 more than the Playstation 4 Pro in Japan when it had launched according to GameRant. Some of the notable features of PlayStation 5 Pro include higher resolutions, higher performance for games and a 45% faster GPU. However not all games have been improved and many issues have been reported with several PlayStation 5 titles

IGN cites Silent Hill 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as a few titles which are experiencing issues; With the most egregious of the bunch being Silent Hill 2, despite being on PlayStation 5 Pro’s list of enhanced games. Rather than the anticipated increase in fidelity players are experiencing a downgrade. Through fan inquiry, developer Bloober Team have responded that they are working on a fix, comments VIDEOGAMER.

Players of Silent Hill 2 have described being obstructed by shimmering and flickering effects that should not be present; They have been described as distracting and sickening at worst. Other games that suffer are Star War: Jedi Survivor, which is affected by an  image quality problem on the PlayStation 5 Pro. Sony’s upscaling, dubbed PSSR only serves to worsen the issue, this information comes by way of Digital Foundry shared on The Shortcut. The image quality suffers on both quality mode and performance mode for Star Wars: Jedi Survivors for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is proving not to be a quick fix for problems across the original PlayStation 5. Developers will have to  implement fixes individually and specifically for new problems that may arise. While this has not affected the positive buzz surrounding the console we can only hope these issues are handled soon in its life cycle and do not persist.
