Publisher Kinda Brave and developer Ember Trail have announced that their indie cozy-management exploration game Distant Bloom will be released on the PlayStation 5, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The title first released on PC on March 27, 2024 ; Gematsu confirms that a set date for the console release has not been announced by either company but that the game is available for Wishlisting on the PlayStation Store.
Distant Bloom is set on an alien planet. The game follows The Assistant, a member of the alien species who after a long expedition has settled on a remote planet and is determined to turn it into a habitable enviroment.
Shacknews Interviews Interviewed Wicktor Nilsson Senior Producer at Ember Trail and asked how the team came about the decision to design the characters, Wicktor Nilsson had this to say “…So they are the ones that are traveling through and they are the ones traveling into this new planet they called Ultra. but the way we wanted them to be, is they’re non-gendered, they’re supposed to be an alien race that isn’t really connected to anything, even the norms or standards that we have, in the human race. So we had that vision from the start and wanted to expand on that. There are similarities of course, there are a lot of things that are different and a lot of things that they are doing different as well…”
Distant Bloom features an ecosystem supported by your interactivity with it’s plant structures and you can turn crops into tools, recipes and items to fortify your home; A social system is present in gathering lost crew members and choices will have an impact on your restoration efforts.
Developer Ember Trail has put great attention on crafting a world fitting for their characters; Fans of the PC release have plenty to look forward to, as do fans of the cozy genre or exploration based games. The hard part will be waiting for a release date announcement.
