Alan Wake II released just a little over a month ago, on October 27, 2023. Now, Remedy Entertainment is teasing a new mode for the game to be released this month.
Well, teasing is not the right word, as the post on the official Alan Wake Twitter/X account all but outright states it. The post has an image of Alan Wake shining his flashlight onto a wall that reads “New Game+” with the caption “New month, new game…plus?”

The post did not state a date for when this mode will be released, but it’s been planned for a while. Back in October, Remedy Entertainment stated that a New Game+ mode would happen post-launch. Remedy gave a sneak peek as to what players can expect for it, including a new, alternate storyline with different Manuscript pages and video content and the Nightmare mode difficulty. Like in other games’ New Game+, players will also be able to keep all their previous unlocked weapons and upgrades.
On top of this upcoming game mode, Alan Wake II is also slated to have two expansions titled Night Springs and The Lakehouse in 2024.
All of this new content is certainly appreciated by Alan Wake fans. The original action-adventure game was released in 2010, and was received quite well by both critics and fans as the atmosphere, visuals, narrative and sounds were praised. Still, after a standalone spin-off was released in 2012, the series was subject to a canceled sequel leading many fans to believe the series had no hope of returning…till Alan Wake II was announced at The Game Awards in 2021.
Although it’s been described as a survival horror game, Alan Wake II is just as beloved, if not more, than its predecessor. It follows bestselling horror novelist Alan Wake as he attempts to escape the alternate dimension he’s been trapped in for the past 13 years. The game also features a second protagonist named Saga Anderson, an FBI agent who is playable in her own storyline. Alan Wake II has earned itself eight nominations for The Game Awards for 2023, including Game of the Year. It’s also already won the Golden Joystick Award for Critics Choice Award.
Alan Wake II is available to play on Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
