Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developers World’s Edge, Forgotten Empires, Tantalus Media, CaptureAge, and Virtuos  announced they would be releasing Age of Mythology: Retold on the PlayStation 5 on March 4 including the release of it’s downloadable content expansion ‘Immortal Pillars.’

Gematsu shares that Age of Mythology: Retold first launched for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on September 4, 2024. As it stands, there exist preorders available for a standard and premium edition. The Standard edition is priced at $29.99 while the premium edition is priced at $49.99 and includes five days Early Access starting February 27, as well as the new exclusive “Gods Pack: Freyr,” the “Legacy Deity Portraits Pack,” the first expansion “Immortal Pillars.”

In Age of Mythology you’ll assume the role of gods, monsters and humans in a real time strategy battle setting; These battles span across 50 unique mission variants. Age of Mythology features multiplayer and randomly generated maps. Arena of  the Gods mode has been added where you’ll take part in 35 skirmishes. Immortal Pillars DLC features twelve additional Gods and seven new biomes.

At Gamescom senior producer on Age of Mythology: Retold Earnest Yuen was asked what Retold means for the game’s development, he had this to say “Right, So. For a few years our fans know we have been building these things called definitive editions. And there’s only one key goal that we have, which is that we want to build the title that is in your head, right? Because  when you actually think about the games that you grew up with play – like remember fondly. But when you actually try to play the original and look at it for real and look at it and say “that’s not what I remember at all” So we want to build the one that’s actually in your head, how it looks like, how it feels like. So that’s the goal…”

With the efforts of development staff to strike a nostalgic chord with fans and the additional content to boot, Age of Mythology: Retold may succeed on it’s release this March.
