Reports suggest that the Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal is set to close and finalize at the end of this week on October 13. With that, many are wondering when Activision Blizzard titles make their way to Game Pass. Bethesda titles made their way to Game Pass few days after Microsoft officially acquired ZeniMax Media and Bethesda. With Activision Blizzard, it’s going to be a little longer at least when it comes to the recently released and upcoming games. Activision Blizzard addressed the issues on social media.
“It’s awesome to see anticipation building for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass,” Microsoft said.
“While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year.”
Another aspect of all this is in regard to streaming. Microsoft restructured its deal in an effort to get it passed. With the restructuring, Microsoft sold its streaming rights for the Activision Blizzard games to Ubisoft.
We’ll have to wait and see what Ubisoft does with the streaming side of things and how they decide where to put Activision Blizzard games and on what platforms.
