Developer Oh My Me Games has released a new trailer, demo and release window for the upcoming action platformer Seafrog. An announcement has been made for an early 2025 release for PC.
In the game you play as a trainee, a skateboarding mechanic surviving exile from his previous ship. While you’re stranded at sea you’ll find new ship playgrounds to skate around and search for barnacles, or fuel, that will open up the world for you. Gematsu reports that there are 24 different passive mod-chips which will affect your stats, such as the wellness chip which increases health and the speed chip which increases speed while reducing your health adding variety to how the game is played. Combos and a boost meter have been implemented and will grant players access to special items for proficient play. The game includes the use of 3D polygonal characters on a 2D surface, the game appears to be inspired by a highly stylized retro aesthetic.
Back in 2022 IGN hosted their Rogue Jam where indie developers gathered including Oh My Me Games for a chance at $500,000 and a publishing deal. Current VP of Xbox Marketing Chris Lee and Nintendo’s former COO Reggie Fils-Aimé were among the judges that awarded Oh My Me Games Seafrog title of ‘Overall Winners.’ IGN’s Peer Schneider commented to Tyler Maitland about his team’s demo
There are dozens of new games coming out everyday, (but) you hooked us with something that looked and felt different and got us to think positively about video games and video game development.
Seafrog has impressed those involved in the industry. The game was originally partnered with publisher Rogue Games Inc. under the name Seadog but the developers decided to self publish and rename the game Seafrog. Players may feel comfort in knowing the initial demo was well received.
