Ubisoft has announced today that Assassin’s Creed Mirage has gone gold and with it, will be pushed up a week earlier than the original release. “On behalf of the entire team, we can’t wait for you to explore 9th Century Baghdad with Basim,” Ubisoft announced on social media. Announced last year in 2022, Mirage is intended on being a smaller Assassin’s Creed title, with gameplay similar to that of early installments from the franchise such as the original Assassin’s Creed and Assassin’s Creed II. Originally planned for release on October 12th, Mirage will now come to players a week earlier on October 5th.
A game going “gold” merely means the devs are confident with the finished product as it is and is ready to be shipped. In a time when games are near monthly posting updates on delays of their games, it comes as rather relief to see Mirage come a week earlier. Mirage has made news recently for stating they won’t include any DLC content or microtransactions that Ubisoft has come to be known for in games like Assassin’s Creed Unity, Odyssey, and Valhalla, where players can pay for XP upgrades or weapons. There are, however, confirmed cosmetic microtransactions that players can purchase, but it seems to be much more toned down. In games like Valhalla and Odyssey, whole menu pages are dedicated to a microtransaction storefront, Mirage is for now rumored to not include any such storefront.
Mirage will also be much more reduced, in terms of overall map size and length. Previous installments spanned massive maps, Odyssey for example replicated all of Greece on a map. Players would grind out a hundred or more hours within the recent Assassin’s Creed titles, which eventually made the open world a monotonous job. Mirage is rumored to be about 20 hours, hopefully giving players a brief and enjoyable adventure that’s reminiscent of the original Assassin’s Creed.
As of today, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release on October 5th, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
