Being a God must be difficult, right? Having to create rules and beliefs and dogmas surrounding your identity and your possible powers. And then some other God might come along, and because they’re a little bit cooler than you and have some more followers than you, you get blown out of the water. Or, sky, so to speak. Or at least, that’s what it’s like in Godhood, brought forth from the wait into early access by developers Abbey Games:
Abbey Games, the minds behind Reus and Renowned Explorers, first announced Godhood a year back with a small teaser trailer of what the game would focus on. That being, you play as a brand new young God, aligning yourself with whatever you choose. Whether it be charity, war, gluttony, love, lust, witchcraft, and more, this is what the people begin to believe in.
You show your strength once, and begin to accumulate followers. As the main goal is to become the most dominant religion in the world. So you task these followers go through their tribe or village and begin to accumulate more followers. Or send them out on missions so that they may use their faith in you to help convert other tribes and villages into believing in your Godliness.
And while you can’t control them directly, you can use your divine intervention to push them in the right direction. Once more followers are recruited a temple will be built in your honor and, soon enough, an entire city. Though, because you aren’t the only God around, your religion can be brought down to the ground and you will need to start again with a new plan in mind.
Godhood is currently in Early Access for those to try out becoming a new God with the best religion in the world. Check out more about the game and Abbey Games’s plan for upcoming alignments and roles on the Steam page.
