Frosthaven, the cooperative dungeon crawling board game published by Isaac Childres and Cephalofair Games, is receiving a tactical PC game adaptation under the same name. Arc Games is publishing and development is being overseen by a Bulgarian team known as Snapshot Games. Gematsu reports that the game will launch in Early Access via Steam this year, 2025 and the closed beta test will run March 27 to April 24.
Frosthaven is the setting of the game, which is in the treacherous reaches of the north. You will choose from one of six characters including the Banner Spear, Boneshaper, Drifter, Geminate, Blinkblade, or Deathwalker with additional classes to be unlocked after you complete the campaign.
FrostHaven features a turn-based tactical combat system, you’ll use an ability card system to execute combos and also make use of an outpost management system to upgrade and construct structures; in turn unlocking new mechanics. According to the Gematsu report, The Early Access release will launch with over 35 quests across acts one and two, with more than 130 quests planned for the main campaign. Frosthaven features cooperative play that supports two to four player play.
Snapshot games has seemingly taken the work behind the mind of its creator Isaac Childres from his well known board Game and transferred that into this dark fantasy tactical role-playing game. The developers have stated that fans can feel at home venturing into the game and newcomers can tailor the difficulty to their skill level. All this said bodes well for the title as its release draws closer, with an already existing fan base it’s possible that word of mouth will be just the push this game needs. In a market saturated with dark fantasy and tactics based games, a project with a solid base may be what the players need.
