PAC-MAN has always been a bit of a spooky game. Desperately trying to collect all the pellets before the ghosts chase PAC-MAN down is sure to scare kids the first few times they play. While the new Google Doodle Halloween PAC-MAN may not inspire much dread in players, it does offer a fun chance for a new take on the classic game. Between new room layouts and special Halloween sprites, Google Doodle may have released the perfect way to pass the time in browser during the last few moments of the spooky season.
When first playing the game, players will be greeted with an introduction to the iconic ghosts and prompted to press play. PAC-MAN‘s timeless simplicity holds true here, as the character can be entirely controlled with directional arrows. Once the game begins, the screen will shift to show the new level 1, a purple haunted building with trees evilly grinning in the upper section and hands reaching up from the bottom section. All of the spooky decorations are placed to mimic the labyrinths of classic PAC-MAN. The game has eight total stages, each growing progressively more difficult and spookier.
The hero himself has changed as well, with fun costumes to grab up the various pellet scattered around the area. In addition to normal pellets, PAC-MAN will be able to pick up power pellets which have been changed into eyeballs, constantly glancing back and forth. Thankfully, the pellets haven’t changed their purpose, proving just as effective at defeating the ghosts as they were in the original game. Another change is the classic PAC-MAN fruit, which is now an apple with an eerie orange substance dripped on top of it.
Few games have as many fans as PAC-MAN. It is a game that almost everyone knows but can still surprise anyone. The Google Doodle Halloween PAC-MAN may provide the perfect opportunity to take another shot at the game before October ends.
