Don’t judge the article image too harshly, graphic design is NOT my passion. Another article, another potential fighting game roster leak. This time, an internet insider from ResetEra has claimed that the characters in Capcom’s upcoming Season 3 will be Street Fighter: Third Strike protagonist Alex, series mainstay Sagat, Street Fighter 4 favorite Crimson Viper, and…. Ingrid from Street Fighter Alpha. That last one is likely to ruffle feathers. In fact, every addition here is likely to cause some amount of headscratching from some amount of the Street Fighter community even if the non-Ingrid members of that list are relatively popular.

As always with these leaks, take this list with a great amount of salt. However it should be noted that Patrick Balkaneil, the ResetEra user that leaked this list, has a history of Street Fighter leaks and the last one he did got Season 2 down to a tee, even including the absurd Fatal Fury guest characters in Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui.
Patrick claims to work for a Capcom competitor, and thus this is the gossip in the circles he walks in. The leaks from last time were legit so that lends some credence to these leaks, but again don’t bust out your Hulk Hogan memorabilia in anticipation of an Alex reveal.
As stated, all these characters are popular (besides Ingrid) and yet contentious in their own right. Alex always has diehard grappler players fiending for him but he’s a bit sullied from his appearance in Street Fighter 5, where his design both in gameplay and aesthetics were a bit conflicted. Nobody is ever unhappy to see Sagat, but he’s an old character and shoto-adjacent, and if there’s one thing people are sick of in Street Fighter 6 it’s shotos and shoto-adjacent characters. Viper is an extremely popular design and it’s easy to see why, but her gameplay has always leaned on being extremely irritating which vets from Super Street Fighter 4 are ever eager to tell you. Ingrid is, well, Ingrid. Ingrid has never been a popular character or concept, people mostly use Ingrid as a joke pick alongside the likes of other unpopular “never ever” characters like Remy, Twelve, and Sean. If this leak is true that’s certainly a brave, and unpopular, pick to round out what is likely the season that will make or break Street Fighter 6’s reputation.
