A Rite From the Stars Seeking Kickstarter Funding

The graphic point and click adventure game resurgence is getting another shot in the arm, this time in the form of A Rite From the Stars, an indie game from Risin’ Goat that is now seeking funding on Kickstarter.

A Rite From the Stars takes its cues from a wide spectrum of adventure games, such as Day of the TentacleLoom, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight, The Cave, and Gemini Rue, and will be available on the PC, Mac, Linux, Wii U and OUYA.

Players take on the role of Kirm, a mute boy from the Makoa Tribe who must undergo four different trials in order to attain his manhood. The first three are known as Wisdom, Courage, and Spirit, and a final, currently unspecified trial will follow upon completion of those three.

Each of the three paths opens up a number of gameplay twists to Rite‘s point and click gameplay. The Wisdom path will see Kirm in a trap-filled temple, tasked with moving various items from room to room, one at a time. The Courage path will present the opportunity to control two characters at once: Kirm, and his spirit animal, a meerkat. Finally, the Spirit path will allow him to enter a parallel spirit dimension to aid him in scaling a large area known as the Volcano’s Crater.

Each of these paths can be completed in any order, and several different endings are available, although it is currently not known what will determine them. With 15 days to go in its Kickstarter campaign, Risin’ Goat have accumulated $10,357 in funding from 272 backers, with a $40,000 goal to be reached, so they have quite a bit of catching up to do. Backers get access to a grocery list of different rewards, depending on the amount pledged, and an alpha demo can be downloaded for those who are on the fence on backing.

Based in Madrid, Spain, Risin’ Goat are a small team of ten people who came together based on their mutual desire to create games with “innovation, meaning, and of course, fun.” They claim to be led by a deranged looking mammal simply known as The Goat.
