A Plague Tale: Innocence Unveils Disturbing Trailer for E3

A Plague Tale: Innocence brings a new meaning to grim. Surviving in the world while being underprivileged is bad enough, but now people, rich and poor, must fight off ravenous and plagued ridden rats.

Amicia and Hugo are to quickly become accustomed to the deadly infestation of rats, while relying only each other to fight off the obstacles of their world. While doing so, the two venture together to discover a dark secret. “On the run from the Inquisition’s soldiers, surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats incarnating the Black Death, Amicia and Hugo will learn to know and trust each other as they struggle for their lives against all odds.”

In a trailer released for E3, A Plague Tale sheds a hopeful light over Amicia and Hugo as they are surrounded and swarmed by starving rats. The trailer’s gorgeous artwork and style greatly increases the emotional value behind the two characters: an older sister and younger brother having depency on each other to endure the cruelty of their world. They rely on fire as their shield and hope as their guide. Asobo Studio, the developers of the game, go into further detail:

  • An original, powerful tale following the trip of the young noble Amicia de Runes and her adorable yet smart brother Hugo
  • Survive a great, enigmatic danger in a brutal, unforgiving world. With the Black Plague appeared deadly swarms of rats, indiscriminately devouring everything in their path.
  • A seamless blend of adventure and stealth gameplay, deeply embedded in dark medieval mystery.

A Plague Tale’s trailer depiction of their story is incredibly gripping and disturbing. Those two elements alone have generated a curious fanbase, as they’re either already decided to play the game, or they desire to understand more about Amicia and Hugo’s story. Either way, the game’s response has been a positive one since last year, and fans are eager to explore the painful and sickly world of the two protagonists. A Plague Tale is expected to release sometime next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
