A Physical Release Of Grand Theft Auto 6 May Not Be Available Day One, Could Come Later To Avoid Leaks

While the video game industry has been inching ever and ever into being all-digital, there are still some who prefer physical media. However, those awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto VI may have to wait longer for a physical release. The report comes from insider Graczdari who previously leaked information about the release of Oblivion: Remastered physical copies, the Switch 2 ports of Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and the PS5 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Graczdari says that the lack of a physical release at launch is due to trying to prevent leaks.

“We’re hearing more and more that the physical version won’t be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks,” their source claims.

Graczdari says that the physical release could come a few weeks after, or as far back as 2027.

“We’re getting conflicting reports – some say the physical version will arrive three to four weeks after the digital release, while others say it won’t happen until early 2027. More information will be available in mid-February.”

Back in 2022, Rockstar Games may have suffered one of, if not the most damaging leaks of all time, when 50 minutes of footage from more than 90 videos made their way online. The game’s first trailer was also leaked day early in 2023, which led Rockstar to officially release it then and not wait for the next day.

Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed twice already. After getting pushed into May 2026, the game was delayed further into the year with an expected release date of November 19, 2026. We’ll see if it sticks and whether or not the physical release of the game will get delayed into 2027.
