A Palworld Item Bug Permanently Decreases a Major Stat

Pocketpair’s newly-released Palworld  is experiencing massive success as the most-played paid game on Steam, but the success has not come without issue. Its servers have suffered with the unexpected volume of players, and now an item bug has been reported to permanently decrease players’ capture power.

Originally spotted by PCGamerN in the game’s Discord, the bug occurs when players use the Memory Wiping Medicine item, called the Memory Reset Drug by the developers. The item is supposed to reset a player’s stat points, allowing them to remake their build. However, it is also reducing players’ capture power in a way that cannot be recovered, making them permanently weaker.

“Currently, using the item ‘Memory Reset Drug’ that resets the player’s status may reduce the player’s capture power and make it impossible to recover,” said Pocketpair’s community manager Kei on Discord. “We are currently investigating the issue, so we apologize for the inconvenience, but please refrain from using it until the investigation/correction is complete.”

“Currently, we have received over 50,000 inquiries,” the Palworld Twitter account stated. “The development team is aware of serious bugs that are occurring, such as being unable to enter servers, unable to play multiplayer, and losing saved data, and are currently working on fixing them. We will share information about the fixes for these issues as soon as possible.” They offer solutions to some of the stated problems, with workarounds for save data loss, but have not confirmed a way around the Memory Reset Drug issue.

With more than 5 million copies sold in only 3 days and 1.5 million concurrent players (the third highest in Steam history), it is likely that the team was caught off guard by this level of success. With over 50,000 issues to sort through, it may take some time for the indie developer to get everything fixed, but they have resolved to keep supporting it.
