Sackboy: A Big Adventure debuted a new story trailer today. It gives viewers a sneak peek into the colorful co-op platformer. The game is a spinoff of the LittleBigPlanet series which sees one of the protagonists, Sackboy, take on another adventure on his own. However, he won’t be alone because the 3D platforming game can be played by up to 4 players at a time.
Sackboy found his start in LittleBigPlanet, a puzzle platform game published by Sony. The game coining the tagline “Play, Create, Share”. Players were able to: play solo, with friends locally or online, create new content with in-game creation tools, and share those creations with other players. The first title of the series was published in 2008.
Sackboy’s newest escapades take him to mountains, jungles, underwater and even space. The new trailer shows the knitted hero try to take down Vex, an evil-being born of “chaos and fear.” According to PlayStation’s website, Vex kidnaps Sackboy’s friends and forces them to create a “Topsy Turver”.
This most deadly diabolical device will transform Craftworld from a fantastical land of pure imagination and innocent dreams… into a torrid, barren eyesore of nightmares. Ooh the fiend!
It’s up to Sackboy to save them. The trailer also showcases the vivid detail of the knitted character. In a close-up view of Sackboy, viewers are even able to see fuzz coming off his stitches — an impressive cosmetic upgrade from what players have previously seen. According to an article on GamesRadar, the trailer showed off “the little fuzz halo around Sackboy’s adorable head, the lights reflecting in his little button eyes, wildly lifelike textures, and incredibly vibrant colors throughout.”
Sackboy: A Big Adventure was introduced during the PlayStation 5 reveal back in June. It will be joining the growing list of games launching with the next-generation console. It will be available on PS4 and PS5. Pre-order is currently available on the Playstation Store for $59.99. Launch day for Sackboy: A Big Adventure is November 12th.
