Due to the reliance on multiplier to create a complete experience, MMO games are uniquely reliant on promotional material such as trailers and demos to get a multitude of players invested in the release. As a result, it is unsurprising that the upcoming dark fantasy MMORPG Embers of the Uncrowned is set to release its demo on June 15th with an accompanying trailer to show off some of the combat and characters coming to the game.
The Steam store page for Embers of the Uncrowned sets the game in a fantastical land following an invasion of hostile elves. The trailer gives players a glimpse at the malice of the invaders as they use dark magic to torture and cut down human soldiers in brutal ways. Players will be tasked with fighting for House Harborwell after returning as its lord amidst the assault of elves and dark creatures.
The gameplay segment shows off the game’s isometric camera angle while the player is surrounded by enemies. To combat this, players will be given the option to choose between multiple classes unique to the game, with some specializing in damaging multiple foes and others hitting single enemies for large sums of damage. Another staple of the genre making an appearance in the trailer are companion characters that will join the player and support them during their journey. In addition, players will be able to team up with others to take on more serious challenges around the world in standard MMO fashion. The Steam page also encourages players to build up both their equipment and base as the game’s story goes on.
Embers of the Uncrowned is a violent venture into a dark and twisted world, with the trailer and demo announcement earning mixed reactions from comments. Players will have a chance to see if the combat and atmosphere appeal to them when the game’s demo becomes available to play on PC on June 15th.
