8BitDo, the third-party video game hardware company, has just added new pair of officially licensed media remotes for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. As reported by The Verge, the controllers are meant to provide a suitable experience for Xbox users who utilize streaming services or the consoles’ built-in 4K Blu-ray player. As for the remotes, there will be two available for purchase: a black model retailing for $24.99 and a white version retailing for $19.99. The black version is slightly bigger than the white remote and also includes a full numpad, while, the white remote is smaller and more compact.
Despite the size, color, and numpad difference, the remotes are almost identical when it comes to features. Both include a home button that allows you to “wake” your Xbox up, playback controls, navigation controls, and A/B/X/Y keys for navigating menus. Some other exceptional touches of the remotes are that they come with a set of complimentary AAA batteries and backlighting for the buttons so that they are easily identifiable in dark lighting.
As for media remotes, there is a lot of companies that make them, so of course, 8BitDo isn’t the only option on the market. For example, a company called PDP also makes one that has been a hit with Xbox users on Amazon, although 8BitDo’s new models seem like a compelling option. With an unbeatable price, a comprehensive layout, and a design similar to the consoles, 8BitDo’s remotes may be an option for you if you’re on the hunt for a media remote and as of today, consumers can pre-order both remotes with initial orders shipping as early as September.
